It seems as if we are seeing more and more movies morph into a continuance of the stories and characters. My first memory of this type of storytelling is the Batman movies in which there are different actors portraying Batman in each movie. Some actors were criticized and some were praised, but what they each did was give Batman life in the way that they knew how and it was in no way disrespectful to any of their predecessors. The mission was to honor the character and Will Smith does just that as Aladdin’s Genie.
The core of Aladdin is still in tact. Life lessons are being learned and laughs are being shared.
Smith’s Genie, is charming, caring and of course witty and comes to understand the true meaning of friendship.
Aladdin, Mena Massoud, believes he is destined for greater things and makes the life-altering decision to leave his petty thievery habits behind, in his pursuit of a new and better life.
Jasmine, Naomi Scott, the Sultan’s beautiful, courageous and self-determined daughter is updated to the days and times of our modern day feminist. She longs to experience life beyond the palace walls and use her title to better serve the people of Agrabah.
We enjoyed Aladdin and hope you’ll enjoy this classic story as told today.
A thrilling and vibrant live-action adaptation of Disney’s animated classic, “Aladdin” is the exciting tale of the charming street rat Aladdin, the courageous and self-determined Princess Jasmine and the Genie who may be the key to their future.
