Lost in OZ is inspired by the book series by L. Frank Baum. Twelve-year-old Dorothy Gale and her beloved Toto go on an adventure much like we’d expect. She searches for Glinda in hopes that she can return them home to Kansas. I was curious about how Amazon would retell a story that was brilliant in it’s origninal form. Initially this appeared risky but Amazon really pulled off this updated take on the iconic tale of The Wonderful Wizard of OZ.
Dorothy and Toto are stuck in their home when the classic tornado scene takes place. Only this time Dorothy is able to use her cell to reach out to her mother for help. I won’t spoil it here as this is the first glimpse into how Lost in OZ is told to today’s modern kid and family. Scenarios throughout the two episodes that we viewed showed how Dorothy dealt with the same situations as she did in the original story with current plots and themes. Amazon successfully engages adults with dialogue through the characters that portray the parent and child characters. Lost in OZ is being viewed now on Amazon Kids. It’s free if you have Prime.
We celebrated with Amazon after the viewing. See below for details.
