Smellcome To Manhood, Old Spice introduces the School of Swagger.
As a mother to two boys, I’m realizing that they are growing into young men and with it will come lots of changes. Unavoidable changes. Â Changes that no matter how bad we squirm at the thought, we have to discuss them. Â Yes, I’m talking about puberty! Â Ready or not, here it comes. Â I’m learning that one of the biggest changes is body odor. Â Around 12 years old it changes and is really noticeable by moms, you know we smell everything anyways and this can be a rather sensitive time for our sons to transition through. Â
Spending an afternoon with Old Spice and learning about how they’ve done part of the job for me leaves me with confidence for some of what’s on the way. Introducing The School of Swagger and Wild Collection line to moms of boys is a genius idea, specifically being a clever way to combat body odor for boys growing during puberty.  The line of products from antiperspirants, to body wash and body sprays, bring about new scents, designs are to activate when detecting sweat and keep the odor away from their skin and clothing.
Next up is The School of Swagger video series. These are a group of videos that confront the many changes that their bodies will encounter.  Topic highlights are “the funky new smell”, oily skin and the follicles of men.  Old Spice, the almost 80-year-old brand, wants boys to know that there is a solution for some of the issues that they are experiencing.  I felt that these are top hygiene subjects needing attention and Old Spice provides a great way to educate moms and sons.  You can view the School of Swagger Video Series here.
Old Spice Guy Isaiah Mustafa and I chatting about puberty and The School of Swagger.
Mom, I like these! Â They are on display in the bathroom for him and his brother to experiment with at their leisure.
Hawkridge body spray, one spray last all day!  We’re gonna find out.  I personally love the scent myself.  Wolfthorn anti-perspirant & deodorant is light but packs a punch.

School is in session as actor and Old Spice Guy, Isaiah Mustafa, and Sweat Scientist, Jaime Stahl, debuts the Old Spice School of Swagger, a new edutainment video series developed for boys entering puberty, tapping the brandâs 80 year history of helping guys navigate the seas of manhood, on Thurs., Aug. 10, 2017 in Los Angeles. The www.schoolofswagger.com video series provides answers to boysâ (and their parents) awkward puberty questions, including the importance of a good grooming regimen that starts with Old Spiceâs Wild Collection of products, including new Invisible Spray anti-perspirants. Jamie Stahl is a sweat scientist.  I had no idea they existed!  She and I spoke about her role at Old Spice and how they determine the names for scents from the Wild Collection, their line of products for boys entering manhood.
Are you really a sweat scientist?
- Yes, that is the title that Old Spice gave me. Â (She is a Chemical Engineer by degree.) Â Working in research and development I help to make sure that products meet the needs of boys and men for sweat protection. Â Â
What’s something really unique about your job tasks?
- I’ve spent many hours going into menâs homes watching them apply deodorant, talking to them about what they like and dislike and even watching them shower (bathing suits always required.)
How was it determined that the scents selected would be a good fit for boys and men?
- Lots of sweat testing with in house perfumers and market research on actual male consumers.
- She analyzes data to determine what scents should be used in the consumer market.
- A scent wheel is referenced to make sure that there is a balance in what’s being offered.
She also said that the biggest goal that Old Spice is trying to achieve with its Wild Collection is to let boys know that puberty is normal, they’re not alone on the journey and that there are products out there to help them get through it.

Old Spice has some of the best videos out there. Â My guys connected to the humor in them too.
The Old Spice Wild Collection âinspired by the wild kingdomâs personality traits âis available in anti-perspirants, deodorants, body washes, body sprays and shampoos, in the following scents:
âKrakengärd âSmells like citrus, fresh herbs, and the unspeakable power of the ancient ocean
âBearglove âCommands grizzly-bear-level respect with smells of apple, citrus, and spice
âWolfthorn-The sort of sophisticated wolf who wears a suit that has a suave, sweet orange scent
âHawkridgeâOutwits unsuspecting stink with its sandalwood and vanilla
The goal is for us moms to barely smell that we have a son, and he still gets to unleash his wild side in a responsible, great-smelling way. Â Young guys like the Wild Collection because it allows them to express their personalities and spread their wings with confidence (but not too high and far, mom!)
Moms and sons can find the Old Spice Wild Collection nationwide at drug stores, food stores, and mass merchandisers.

September 6, 2017I am sooo not ready to think about my boy and his soon to be stinky self lol. I know it is natural and a part of growing up, but I am dreading the day he becomes a “young man”. Good to know that Old Spice has a line that is cool enough for the younger guys!

September 10, 2017This is a brilliant idea of a campaign. We all know how teens are, more focused on their computer games and forgetting themselves in from of their computers. It’s important to teach them to take care of their appearance as well and to teach them about the importance of using deodorant.

September 13, 2017I thought this was a good way to get their attention too.
